Jennifer Finney Boylan is an admired author, advocate for transgender equality, and most recently, the Anna Quindlen Writer in Residence at Barnard College of Columbia University. Her 2003 autobiography, She’s Not There: A Life in Two Genders,became the first bestselling book by a transgender American. Before Barnard, Boylan taught at Colby College, where she was co-chair of the Department of English and director of creative writing. The author of over ten books, including numerous memoirs, Boylan is also a contributing opinion writer for the Op-Ed page of the New York Times. Boylan currently serves as the co-chair of Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD)’s board of directors and is on the board of trustees of the Kinsey Institute for Research on Sex, Gender, and Reproduction. Boylan’s newest book, Stuck in the Middle with You: A Memoir of Parenting in Three Genders, chronicles the challenges that arise at the intersections of gender transition and parenthood.
