welcome to queer!nea: a re-boot

Standard

Welcome to Queer!NEA,  the “news & notes” blog for the New England Archivists’ LGBTQ Issues Roundtable.

The roundtable was established in January 2013 as a community for queer archivists and those interested in LGBTQ issues in the New England area to connect with one another and discuss issues within the profession and also share resources and information. During the past eighteen months we have been a very quiet group, with efforts to start a reading and discussion group mostly falling by the wayside, and the email list lying fallow.

This summer, the steering committee and co-chairs of the roundtable considered folding the roundtable altogether. However, in discussion with NEA leadership, we have decided that it would be a loss of opportunity for NEA to let this meeting space slip away. Therefore we are attempting a “reboot” of the group in the following ways and spaces:

  • Our Google Group email list will continue to serve as a method of communication to all members. If you would like to join the roundtable, please contact us and we will add you to the list.
  • We are migrating from Google Sites to WordPress, a move that we hope will facilitate more active participation and better communication both within the group and with interested others.
  • We’ll be Tweeting @queernea for those who prefer the 140 character mode of communication.

We are working on a content plan for the blog, but in the meantime, please feel free to push news you think relevant to the group our way for posting! Any link suggestions can be sent to queernea@gmail.com with or without suggested commentary for the post.
